| Physical Training It
is important to be in shape to play any sport. No
matter if its football, basketball or soccer, all
physical sports need players to be physically in
shape. Many people already know how to pass a
ball, or successfully kill the ball, but are
confused about how to shed some fat in exchange
for muscle.
Jump Training
Hops is what every volleyball
player don't get enough of. Here is a great jump
work-out plan my coach came up with to train
himself and others. It consists of four 2 week
sections. This workout concentrates on the major
leg muscles used in volleyball. It must be
performed in a routine which consistency.
Setting
There is not a lot of glory
in a setter, but a setter is the most important
person on the team. It is absolute to learn how
to set the basic areas consistently from all
angles of the court. No matter which position you
play. Some players and coaches do not emphasize
on middles or swing hitters to set, but it will
only help the team to have 6 setters on the court
rather than just 1.
Passing
Pass is fundamental
and most underrated skill in volleyball. A good
pass starts a good offense. A bad pass will only
limit the setter to run plays according to the
placement of the pass. Passing is a difficult
skill in which many beginner players look over,
but it is essential to become a volleyball
player. Unless a passer is allowed to catch a
server and throw it to the setter.
Blocking
Blocking is the
first line of defense. Many players have the
wrong impression that blocking is just putting
your hands above the net and let it sit there.
What is not realized is that blocking consist of
reading the other player's arm swing, timing, and
the direction of the palm in which the ball will
be deflected to.
Hitting
This is the most
exciting part of the game. Hitting is the only
part of the game many people play the sport. This
is also the part which consist of strength, hops,
timing, and the knowledge of positioning the ball
with sufficient force all in a split second.
Offense
Some plays that are
used in all levels of volleyball. Offensive
patterns which will give the team a leg-up
against big blockers and good defensive teams.
Defense
Positioning and the ability
to read is very important in defense. Coach Neal
Newman said: "Technically, a good defensive
player never have to dive because he would
already know where the ball is going."
Mind
Many volleyball players know
there are certain areas on the court which are
most unprotected. It is very venerable to even
pass the ball in that area. You can use these
areas to your advantage to get your team out of a
long rally, or just to frustrate your opponent.
